NOTE: At the time I had started writing this review, Drake's new album, Views, had not yet been released! It is out now!
Yes, this post will include a review of Beyonce's new project, Lemonade, as well as new reviews of A$AP Ferg, Deftones, and Royce da 5'9. I haven't yet had time to listen to PJ Harvey or J Dilla, so those reviews will not be included here. But hey, Views From the 6 is coming soon! Lots of music to be excited about coming up soon! This week is going to have some reviews from this week, as well as some from last week. Whoo!
I've been drowning in work lately, and so I haven't been caught up on blog posts, so I apologize for that. This post will not include reviews of J Dilla, Deftones, Royce Da 5'9, or J Dilla; those reviews will all be scheduled for next week instead along with the A$AP Ferg review. Working on a Top 10 Favorite Florence + the Machine songs list, as well as a Top 15 acts you should catch at Coachella list. Keep a look out for those!
Another week, another set of album reviews. I've been really lazy with getting these album review in on schedule, so I apologize to all my readers. Festival season will be coming up soon, so expect a lot of posts to be coming from me around those times. I hope you're ready!
Sorry for being slightly late this week, everyone! I've been a little bit under the weather, but it has allowed me to listen to these albums a little more closely. There have been some pretty great ones this week, and the ones I'll be reviewing have particularly been great. There will be no Gwen Stefani review this week, seeing as her album will not be available on Spotify for a while, but until then, enjoy these reviews of some classic artists, plus a newer upcoming singer-songwriter!
Hey y'all! Sorry you all didn't get a review last week. I've been exhausted lately with all the work I've been doing, and I feel a little behind on my reviews. I've got some cool articles coming soon, so stay tuned for those.
I did get to see the lovely Carly Rae Jepsen this past week. I had no idea what to expect from this, seeing as this was my first time seeing a pop star in concert. She ended up being incredibly fun and vibrant. To be honest, she sounded great too! She had great stage presence and was very intimate with the crowd. All in all, I would totally go see her in concert again. If you haven't seen her on tour yet and she's coming to your city, I would highly recommend seeing her! Now, enjoy this new set of reviews! So this week, since albums by The 1975 and Anthrax weren't on Spotify like I'd hoped they would be, those two won't be included. However, great albums by Santigold and Pinkshinyultrablast will be included here, as well as a late review from dream pop group Wild Nothing! Also included will be the new EP from one of my favorite pop stars. Enjoy!
Another week in music has passed. I recently had the opportunity to see Chris Stapleton live at the legendary Ryman Auditorium, with up-and-comer country singer Maren Morris opening. As with any seated venue, there were several people sitting down during the show. But even that being said, the show still had many people standing up the whole time. I don't think I've ever been to a show where so many in the audience were as excited about an artist as this I did that night. Stapleton and his band, which included his wife Morganne, played a great 90 minute long set. The set included a surprise appearance from his old band the Steeldrivers, who did "Ghosts Of Mississippi" and "Sticks That Made Thunder", as well as a cover of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'" with opener Maren Morris singing along. But enough of that. Let's do some reviews!
The past year or so have been quite tumultuous for one Mr. Kanye West. After releasing a beautiful ode to his mother and daughter North that featured Paul freaking McCartney on keys, making some waves at last year's Grammys with some stupid comment about Beck, and just recently having a mini-meltdown backstage at the Saturday Night Live studio, we have to kind of wonder where it'll end. Well, my friends and I have had some theories about this, which will be included in this review.
Hello all, and welcome to the first new set of reviews this year! While I don't know if 2016 will be nearly as exciting as 2015 was for music, I can definitely say that there will be some interesting releases this year. With new releases already from David Bowie (RIP), Megadeth, Ty Segall, and others, as well as new tracks by Beyonce and Death Grips all being released recently, I'm as excited as ever for this year in music.
