Since the year is almost over, that means my "Favorites Of the Year" lists will be coming in soon! Stay tuned, y'all!
Hello, all! It's been a while! I just decided to take a short break from reviewing albums to actually try and enjoy them. But, since this is a hobby of sorts, I figured I should still get back to reviewing albums. Since the year is almost over, that means my "Favorites Of the Year" lists will be coming in soon! Stay tuned, y'all!

The past week in music has been a big one. New releases from rock supergroup The Dead Weather, British dance duo Disclosure, synthpop favorites Chvrches, and post-punk legends New Order. Overnight sensation Fetty Wap also finally released his much-anticipated debut after three Top 10 singles.
These are all going to be hard to review, but they're certainly going to be fun to listen to all the way through. Last Week In Music: The VMAs Bring Us More Great Internet Drama (Late Review for 8/28-9/4)9/10/2015 It's been one heck of a week, hasn't it? After another year of silence, VMAs-related drama blew up social media with news about a supposed Kanye West presidential run in 2020, a Miley-Nicki Minaj feud, and even a surprise Miley Cyrus collaboration with the Flaming Lips. I always find it funny how an awards show that comes once a year, lasts only a few hours, and affects virtually nobody causes so much drama and makes so many people angry.
Either way, it's been a big week for music. New albums from Beach House and Motorhead, debuts from Maddie & Tae and Halsey, and a surprise from Miley Cyrus and the Flaming Lips. Of course, we can't forget about everyone's favorite R&B chart-topping crooner, The Weeknd. As usual, I'm going to review all of these to the best of my ability. This past week in music hasn't been as exciting. Reggae singer OMI took back the #1 spot on the Hot 100, displacing The Weeknd's smash "Can't Feel My Face". However, Carly Rae Jepsen finally released her new album, E-MO-TION, to Spotify, giving me a chance to listen to andreview it!
The biggest news of the past week? Probably that one our generation's favorite songstress, Adele, is finally releasing her third studio album, due this November. Without a doubt, this has been one of my most anticipated releases for the past couple of years. While I'm happy that she was able to take time off to take care of her kid, I'm also happy to see her doing music again. Can't wait for this album! In the meantime, enjoy this set of reviews! Another week in music means more albums for me to review. Better yet, more albums for me to enjoy, think about, and write about in the best way I can. Iron Maiden finally released their first new song since 2010's The Final Frontier and Grace Potter released an album full of fun, dance-able rock music. I'll get to both and more in this review.
This past week has marked yet another week in what has been a massive year for music. Dr. Dre came back with his soundtrack album Compton, FKA Twigs released a surprise EP/video, and The Weeknd scored his first-ever Hot 100 #1 hit with his Michael Jackson-esque jam "Can't Feel My Face."
This review will be the first "new" review that I'll be doing from now on. Rather than do singular reviews, I'm doing several shorter reviews compiled into one post. These shorter, condensed reviews will still have a rating and my favorite tracks, but will instead have a few well-written paragraphs explaining why I like or don't like the album. Artist Colleen Francis is a singer who is formerly a singer for the band Scarlett Seven, a band that also included Lori Lee, who is probably best known for her relation to Evanescence's Amy Lee. This time, Francis is doing a solo project, which includes this John Mayer and Adele-influenced EP titled Golden Cage.
I'm thoroughly convinced that album release dates will soon be a thing of the past. People have dabbled in surprise releases before, with Radiohead doing it in 2007 with their critically acclaimed album In Rainbows; in actuality, the band announced the album ten days before it was actually released, but it was still a pretty big surprise to most of the band's fans.

Facebook page I'm continually amazed at how many talented singer-songwriters are in the Nashville area. I've said many times that there is a really good reason that it's called Music City. You can walk into any bar at any time of day and find live music playing, and most of the time the people playing are great. Even if you're not at a bar, there are still many talented young musicians all over Nashville writing and recording songs that they wrote. Callie Hopper is one of those people. Of Monsters and Men have been one of my favorite groups for a couple of years now. I loved their 2011 album, My Head Is An Animal, an album that presented a cool approach to indie pop with jangly acoustic guitars and lyrics that seemed to tell miniature fairytales. Listen to a song like "Dirty Paws" and tell me it doesn't sound like a fairytale! Either way, My Head Is An Animal is still a favorite album of mine to listen to.
